Charlie Dyson Memorial Golf Tournament
2008
Dyson Golf Tournament a Huge Success
With over 100 members and
friends of Local 3217 in attendance the 2008 Dyson Tournament was the most
successful fundraising event to date.

Captain Russ Kerns assisted by
President Karl Liedke organized the annual event to benefit Nick Dyson.

Charlie Dyson was a 15 year
member of MWAA fire department before losing his courageous battle with cancer.
Local 3217 started a benevolent fund in Charlie’s name. Every spring our
members along with our friends and family converge upon Bowling Green Country
Club in Front Royal and raise money for a good cause.
This year’s efforts once again
were spear headed by Captain Russell “Tater” Kerns. “I never thought when we
started this endeavor we would enjoy the response we are having.” Because of
the wonderful sponsors and the amusing participants the tournament attracts
we’ve been able to grow each year. Tater, former Secretary Andrea Walter
devoted many hours of hard work to ensure the tournament’s success.
In addition to the countless
volunteers, Local 3217 would like to thank all of players and sponsors for their
support. If you are interested in playing or being a sponsor please contact any
member of Local 3217.

Team Hawaii Five-O… Showing off
their Aloha Sprit, some teams didn’t take themselves or the golf too seriously.

Captain Jeremy Pope figured he
was going to need his hockey stick to improve his golf game. He was WRONG…
nothing could improve his golf game.

A good time was had by all.
Here Walter Volrie, George Harms, and President Karl Liedke shows photographer
Maria Moore which golf putter she should use to hit the ball.
